Perhaps the greatest surprise that my clients find is that I have no desire to keep you in therapy for months, years or for the rest of your life. I want to help you feel BETTER, happier and more peaceful as quickly as possible, and contrary to old school methods this does NOT involve months of digging up the past, reliving trauma every week or feeling horrific. I have made it my mission to learn and master techniques which allow the most minimal digging in the past and the fastest route to happiness. I have watched trauma victims let go of their past in weeks, domestic violence victims face their ex partners in court after a handful of sessions and children release anxiety in less than a school term.
Obviously, every journey is different, and every client arrives in a different place, but my only goal is to help you let go of the past so that you can enjoy your life again! We don't spend the whole session in tears, grief or pain, we remove the emotional triggers, change the thinking pattern and test it to make sure it feels better - and we keep doing this until the issues are resolved or at the very least, lessened.
I love the look of surprise as my clients realise that the old feelings have gone, and I relish in saying goodbye to happier clients who can walk into their future without being held back by their past. Old school therapy techniques often believe that we must spend 12-24-36 weeks (or longer) talking through our issues - and whilst this may allow us to talk about them without tears it rarely means that the problem has gone. Sadly, many clients who arrive at my door have experienced years of traditional therapies, and whilst they can talk about issues more openly the impact of them is still alive and kicking, and often causing chaos in their lives. Which is what pushed me to train with top trainers and learn strategies, techniques and skills to cut off the old emotional pathways to trauma, anxiety and distress and rewire them to peace and calm, which means that the past gets left where it needs to be - in the past.
No path is straightforward, is it? Mine wasn’t either. I’ll be honest, choosing to change can be the hardest thing, BUT, when you do make that choice– the results can be magical!
So, who am I to say that it is possible? Having battled with and recovered from an eating disorder and experienced the hell of domestic violence, I am under no illusion that things are easy when you choose to change. However, when you find the right therapist, with the right TOOLS and METHODS and start by changing your mind-set and breaking the connections associated with the issue you are having it’s like putting petrol in a car – it just all works perfectly. Having made such huge changes myself and experienced all the obstacles and difficulties that come with them it has made me passionate about helping others who want to take back the reins and the control of their own lives.
I work using a variety of therapeutic methods to offer a range of programmes to change your mind-set in the area you need. My sessions are all personalised, interactive and focussed on change. That change can seem daunting at first, but when it starts to unravel it can be addictive! Sessions support you to break the emotional attachments to your problem, re-programme your responses to trigger situations and train your mind to achieve your goals.
All I ask is for complete honesty and clarity. Our working relationship is based on trust and I can only treat what I know, sometimes those situations we do not think affect anything are at the core of the issue, so being honest is vital to us working together to change your thought processes. This allows us to devise a treatment plan which is specific to YOU and allows us to create new processes which leave you feeling empowered and in control of your futures.
To find the change you desire, you must first commit to doing the work, some sessions will be liberating, others may feel challenging as we strip back issues and look for resolution, my requirement is that you are committed to the process. Those who remain committed therefore see effective results, a desired change in behaviours and mind-set and an opportunity to live the life that they desire. This simply cannot work if you wish to blame others, refuse to do the work or withhold information, for this reason, when bringing children and teenagers for sessions it is imperative that they are on board and want to work with someone, or are at least curious. Please do not just bring them without discussing it as it breaks down trust and that can rarely be resolved and causes conflict at a time when healing is needed.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to call or email so I can answer them.
I cannot wait to start working with you!
